There were many other empires, but why were the European empires that much more successful? That lied in their mentality.
Most empires tended to assume that they already understood the world. The Romans, Mongol and Aztecs conquered in search of wealth and power. The Europeans on the other hand, set out in the hopes of obtaining new knowledge along with new territories. Unlike other empires who brought along soldiers, the Europeans brought along scientist and scholars
